Medieval II Total War Victory in 58 Turn at Very Hard/Very Hard with French

Ok, people, today I don't plan to release an episode. But I will share an interesting thing I did a couple days ago. As you might know, publishing the videos of the campaign chronicles is the longest part of the process in the making of episodes. It also takes hell of a lot of space on the hardrive. So all of that forces me to do something else while I publish the episode and clean space. So I played some campaigns...

One of my friends told me someone said he conquered 36 regions in 46 turns while playing at very hard with the english. At first I told myself "Hmmm, that's hard to believe." So since I'm good I told myself... "well if someone can do it, I can!"

So in 45 turns with the french I had 40 regions.

So Once I reached this first objective, I told Myself lets continue to victory. I reached the first victory condition and by turn 48 I had 45 regions.

The longest part was to send a Crusade to Jerusalem, That was achieved at the turn 58 mostly because I didn't have a good fleet and it seems every one had huge fleet around ready to destroy me.

So here is the save game of the campaign as proof and the really interesting thing is that when you win the battle from the save, all factions are unlock! =)

Download the save of the Victory in 58 Turn here

So enjoy!

I also continued a little more and here is what it looked like around turn 92

So the conclusion is, either french are too powerful or I'm just too good...

Dude that was is so impressive, My mate who plays the game only manages to capture like 28-30 (on average) regions in 62 turns (or so he says, I reckin he is BSing because I told him about this, He sucks at the game lol)

hehe, well it very much depend your style of playing. I'm very offensive and I take big risk. The French Faction is also really powerful, but I must admit i had similar result with the Moors... Anyway, sometime being slow make you enjoy the game more then being as fast as I am. Didn't even had gunpowder yet... =)

Lol true. Personally when I play on *This is how much I need a new graphics card.... Or pc* Shogun I tend to build up quickly and move straight in, On Medieval (the original *mutters*) before the disk broke I tended to take it really slow. Wierd how on different games you move at a different pace. Well I do, You apparantly do not lol.

Attila said...

well at shogun i was slow at first, but once i finaly understood that port were money making thing I could win very fast at expert. Medieval total war was more a diplomatic challenge you had to make a lot of alliance and then start a war against those with little alliance. In Rome you could mostly win on the battlefield and expend fast very early when every one was weak. In medieval 2 you just need a lot of cavalry, a pillage every city you take to finance the building of the economies and with the profit you make from the economies you build an army and pillage even more. So to pillage I must expand very very fast. But i think in the futur i might take it easier and slow down the pace =)

Lol perhaps you should work at creative assembly and sega and show them how to make a proper game lol. You seem to know your stuff.

Attila said...

yeah maybe I should could teach them strategy they seem to need someone to develop a smarter AI. =)

And i have a clearly Idea how to make a multiplayer campaign and it's for sale. ;)

You have an idea for how to make a multiplayer campaign ? Ack I've been trying to think of a way to make it work for a while lol. Perhaps you should e-mail them.

Attila said...

yeah maybe i should, but i have other things to do for the moment =)

Hey Atilla, i downloaded your 58 win file, but after i download it what do i do?

Attila said...

put the .sav file into your medieval 2 total war save folder, and you should be able to load it as for any of your own campaign =)

Anonymous said...

You are very gold Atilla.
You can be very proud. :)

But is it clever to automanage all (only construction)?
Does the computer make useful things?

Attila said...

well in fact I manage all my cities, it's just that I put auto manage in case I forget about it. =)

Attila, I'm having so much trouble beating the game as French on medium. Do I suck? Maybe, but I've been reading and watching all your video's and I just don't know what to do anymore. Denmark, Milan, Holy Roman Empire are so powerful, I don't know what to do. Any help would be nice..

Attila said...

explain your situation and then i can give advice =)

Anonymous said...

Can you play in horde faction in campaign?

Attila said...

hmm well can't say, but mongols are in a horde mode...

im wondering did you use mods because your battle options icons are different and you have over 2500 armies. i tried the germanias and i got bankrupt so i would capture a city then extem then make it rebel and extem i think britain are weak because of their lack of spearmen

Attila said...

na I use normal total war, mod tend to change the battle timing and it make them get longer in general, that's a bad mix when you try to make video under 100 meg for youtube

I find the scottish the easiest because you just take ireland then wales and the english are really bad early in the game and i manae to take london, nottingham, caen in 2 turns i find their infanty very powerful no gun guys though but still easy then france.
So do have any advice for russia? i finding it hard to defeat poland cav and the rebels are hard to capture and im reach byzantine borders but they moving all their armies towards my cities and they massive so much units any advice would be helpful sorry for the long post.

Attila said...

Hmm well the only time I played with russia I advanced by making really high risk move and very close battle were both had high casualties. So I don't really have advice since I played them maybe arround 2 hours at my friend house

I need alot of Help in THe HOly ROman Empire Campaign. It is totally the hardest faction. I just started a new Campaign and I need some advice.

Anonymous said...

HELLO Attila, I have a quick question, why is it that you can only pick from 5 factions?

Attila said...

You need to win a full campaign first with one of them, then all other unlock excluding some factions

Attila said...

as for you holy roman empire check out the related chronicles.

i did much the same thing conquering almost the whole world with spain in 80 turns. but i found it quite boring playing the bum rush stragety. It is much more fun/challanging if you take it slow. A good way to force yourself to slow down is to make sure every one of your settlements is ALWAYS trying to build something even if you can't afford it and your quees stall EVERY turn for 55 straight turns.

Attila said...

yeah rushing is really boring... really disliked the experience...

How come my Medieval 2 takes a long time to load and runs very slow and choppy, but my Rome total war runs flawlessly?

Attila said...

rome total war is 4 years old, medieval is 1 year old, they don't have the same technology

Wow, that's a fantastic game. I finished an English long campaign only after 152 turns on medium difficulty. The long journey was great but victory in 58 turns is something I won't be able to do anytime.

Attila said...

well i don't recommend it, it's too fast, not much enjoyement

I happen to enjoy the fast-French campaign VH/VH. I didn't complete it as quickly as I could have because I didn't make a bee-line for Jerusalem- I instead took over the world one territory at a time (or four at a time, whatever) and won probably around turn 65 (I'm sure you or I could beat it by turn 45 or better). I'm living on the opposite side of the world as the computer on which I accomplished this so I can't prove anything, but I do remember that King Louis died of old age at age 61 right after I took Baghdad as the second-last territory in the old world (Dongola was a bitch because the army I sent to take it deserted me after the Louis died because his successor was so lame). So that means that that was around turn 80 (61 at age of death - 21 at start year / 0.5 years per turn).

France is a very powerful force. I used exclusively infantry and non-missile cavalry to prevent artillery from slowing down my armies, as well as many a trick to speed up the process: use spies extensively to plan your path and open gates, attack armies beside enemy settlements as opposed to the armies in settlements so as to avoid the siege-delay, use creative routes/ extensive use of navies in order to capture the most geographically awkward like taking Inverness -> Dublin -> ferrying across to take Caenarvon -> ferrying over to take Arhus ->f to Oslo-> f to Stockholm -> f to Helsinki -> f to Vilnius -> on foot to Moscow, etc., and most importantly, never stop moving.

I apologize for the long post, I just got too geekily excited.

Attila said...

yeah good tips

I've attained the same result with spain on very hard. It's possible with most factions if you play it right only for the eastern factions it can be a bit troublesome.
